Video by City of Canterbury Bankstown on YouTube · Open on YouTube

Megan, from a council leisure centre, leads 30-second moves with her young helper: squats hand in hand, back lunges, plank taps, frog squats, mountain climbers, a plank hold, a chest press with the child leaning into your hands (or push-ups) and a 45-degree hold. Repeat 3 or 4 rounds.

Step by step 9

Tap a time to watch that step in the video.

  1. Hold hands facing your child and squat and stand together, weight back through the heels, chest up. 1:17
  2. Squat hold: sink down holding hands and lean your weight back as if pulling against each other. 2:08
  3. Back lunges, lifting the knee to high-five your partner's foot; alternate legs or do two each side. 2:53
  4. Plank shoulder taps with your partner, keeping the hips still; go for control, not speed. 3:57
  5. Frog squats facing your partner. 4:46
  6. Mountain climbers mixed with jump squats; keep going on your own if your partner wanders off. 5:50
  7. Jump back to a plank hold while your child crawls around you; step back and up instead of jumping if needed. 6:46
  8. Chest press on your back as your child stands at your feet and leans into your hands, or do push-ups. 7:54
  9. Seated 45-degree hold facing your partner, feet down or lifted; sit up a little if your lower back feels it. 8:53

The steps are a summary in our words, checked against the video — the coach shows every move.
